What we are looking for

These five are the working standard for every TARA coach. We are putting them in writing so you know what you are agreeing to, and so we can be held to it too.

Recognizing trauma responses. Noticing dysregulation, shutdown or agitation as it happens, and adjusting rather than pushing through.
Building resilience and self-trust. Helping someone rebuild the inner voice that trauma erodes.
Creating safe containers. Holding a space where growth is possible without re-traumatizing.
Teaching coping strategies. Boundaries, emotional regulation, grounding — things a Scholar can use on a Tuesday.
Knowing when to refer. Recognizing when a need is beyond coaching, and handing over to licensed care.

Working with TARA

Draft — pending review. This section sets out the working relationship. It needs sign-off before the form goes live.

Supervision. I will meet TARA’s Director of Scholar Coaching monthly for the first three months, then quarterly, to review my work with Scholars. These are not performance reviews — they exist so nobody carries this work alone.
Scope. I will work within TARA’s Six Pillars and its coaching framework, and I will not offer clinical treatment under TARA’s name.
Referral. When a Scholar needs licensed care, I will say so, tell TARA, and help them find it.
Safeguarding. I will follow TARA’s safeguarding guidance and raise a concern the same day it arises.
Mission. I will work in a way consistent with Truth and Right Action — meeting each Scholar honestly, and acting for their long-term flourishing rather than short-term results.
